I. Purpose of the Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council GNOIEC/MGCSC Safety Excellence Awards Program
The Contractor Safety Excellence Awards of the Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) will recognize commendable safety performance of individual Member Contractor firms. The awards are intended to convey Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) & Mississippi Gulf Coast Safety Council (MGCSC) strong support of contractor safety performance with the contractors having the primary responsibility for execution of on-site safety and working together with the owner and engineers to ensure a safe workplace.
The Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) Award Selection Committee will only consider contractors eligible for nomination based on:
Member in good standing
Completed nomination forms received by February 26 , 2010 DUE DATE.(IF NOT RECEIVED THIS DATE, APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED)
OSHA/MSHA injury/illness statistical data for the nominating owner member site personnel (from OSHA/MSHA LOG), omit headquarters and regional office personnel from the data.

Awards will be presented in the following work-hour categories for each above SIC/NAICS group, based on the total hours worked in the Owner Member sites.
Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) & Mississippi Gulf Coast Safety Council (MGCSC) Member companies are eligible to submit a nomination annually for the Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) Contractor Safety Excellence Awards. All completed nominations must be received, by GNOIEC, no later than February 26, 2010.
(MUST BE RECEIVED BY DUE DATE OR CANNOT BE CONSIDERED)
Owners should have the nominated contractor complete the statistical data on Part 1 (SITE WORKHOURS) for each award category. If submitting for the multiple site award, submit Part 2 (OWNER MEMBER MULTIPLE SITE WORKHOURS – COMBINED) for each GNOIEC/MGCSC Owner Member listed on the application form. The data is requested for the past three (3) years and can be taken directly from the OSHA/MSHA Log. Injury/illness data will be for the Greater New Orleans & Mississippi operations. This is intended to omit headquarters and regional office personnel from the data. Provide data for the GNOIEC/MGCSC Members only.
Completed nominations must be completed online no later than February 26 , 2010. No contractor will be considered for a nomination if the application is received after the above date.

GNOIEC/MGCSC SAFETY AWARDS PROGRAM GENERAL GUIDELINES
All nominations must be submitted to the GNOIEC Office by the February 26, 2010 DUE DATE. (MUST BE RECEIVED AND COMPLETED TO BE CONSIDERED)
The Safety Awards Committee will evaluate nominations, to determine if contractor members are eligible to participate in the award program based on eligibility and criteria for nomination evaluation.
Contractors will only be nominated for one award classification, based on applicable SIC/NAICS Code listed in Appendix II, page 11 and OWNER MEMBER MULTIPLE SITE WORKHOURS COMBINED category.
In the event of a tie, nominees must ensure that the appropriate personnel are available for interviews at the time of the audit. A list of current regional employees and nominating site employees must be provided prior to the scheduled audit date. If time is not allocated the application becomes void. If interview scheduling becomes a problem due to the audit schedule, additional time for these interviews may be granted.
Nomination audits will serve to validate the information supplied in the nomination form. The nomination site work hours and combined site work hour statistics for the multiple site categories will be checked... Key elements in the Contractors Safety Management program will be reviewed with the nominee. Pertinent records, documentation, program reviews and interviews will be used to substantiate the elements of the Contractors safety program. The audit will be conducted at the nominee work/worksites.
The audit format will be consistent for all applicants where applicable.
No final information regarding the Contractor Safety Excellence Award audits will be discussed with any contractors. All findings are strictly reserved for the Contractor Safety Excellence Award Selection Committee. Results will only be made with the announcement of the winners in each category at the Safety Excellence Awards Banquet on May 4, 2010.
