- Any members of the committee whose company is nominated will excuse themselves from the selection process for that category
- Contractors must be nominated by one of the following Owner Members of GNOIEC/MGCSC and Owner Member must sign the applications:

- OSHA rates must be lower than national averages by SIC/NAICS Codes
- Must submit OSHA logs for last three (3) years
- Must submit narrative explaining their process and accomplishments
- Must have an EMR less than One (1)
- Criteria will be considered by job site, multiple nominations for the same contractor are acceptable, only one (1) award given per SIC/NAICS per m/h’s worked, same contractor may receive more than one award in different categories
- In the event of a tie, winner will be selected from an audit conducted at the nominee’s site.
- Award Categories:
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Codes
- 3 from SIC 15 / NAICS 236……2,000 - 25,000 m/h / 25,000-100,000 m/h / >100,000 m/h
- 3 from SIC 16 / NAICS 237……2,000 - 25,000 m/h / 25,000-100,000 m/h / >100,000 m/h
- 3 from SIC 17 / NAICS 238……2,000 - 25,000 m/h / 25,000-100,000 m/h / >100,000 m/h
- 3 from all other SIC/NAICS Codes (services) …… ditto man-hour categories
- One (1) most improved from all Contractor nominations submitted
- One (1) Owner from participating owners (Total Contractor work hours at Site)
- One (1) Multiple Location winner for Contractor in OWNER MEMBER SITES
- Nominations must be submitted to the GNOIEC office by March 7, 2008.
- Banquet will be on June 10, 2008 at the Hilton, New Orleans Airport

I. Purpose of the Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council GNOIEC/MGCSC Safety Excellence Awards Program
The Contractor Safety Excellence Awards of the Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) will recognize commendable safety performance of individual Member Contractor firms. The awards are intended to convey Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) & Mississippi Gulf Coast Safety Council (MGCSC) strong support of contractor safety performance with the contractors having the primary responsibility for execution of on-site safety and working together with the owner and engineers to ensure a safe workplace.

II. Criteria for Nomination Consideration
The Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) Award Selection Committee will only consider contractors eligible for nomination based on:
- Member in good standing
- Completed nomination forms received by March 7, 2008 DUE DATE. (IF NOT RECEIVED THIS DATE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED)
- OSHA/MSHA injury/illness statistical data for the nominating owner member site personnel (from OSHA/MSHA LOG), omit headquarters and regional office personnel from the data.

Awards will be presented in the following workhour categories for each above SIC/NAICS group, based on the total work hours worked in the Owner Member sites.
- 2,000 to 25,000 work hours annually.
- 25,000 to 100,000 work hours annually.
- Over 100,000 work hours annually.

IV. Eligibility
Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) & Mississippi Gulf Coast Safety Council (MGCSC) Member companies are eligible to submit a nomination annually for the Greater New Orleans Industrial Educational Council (GNOIEC) Contractor Safety Excellence Awards. All completed nominations must be received, by GNOIEC, no later than March 7, 2008.

V. Instructions for Completing the Nomination
No nominations will be considered unless Three (3) digital pictures of work activities are submitted with nominees application and One (1) digital company logo.
Files can be submitted by mail, or by email to safetyawards@gnoiec.com.
Part 1 (A & B)
Owners should have the nominated contractor complete the statistical data on Part 1-A (SITE WORKHOURS) for each award category. If submitting for the multiple site award, submit Part 1-B (OWNER MEMBER MULTIPLE SITE WORKHOURS – COMBINED) for each GNOIEC/MGCSC Owner Member listed on the application form. The data is requested for the past three (3) years and can be taken directly from the OSHA/MSHA Log. Injury/illness data will be for the Greater New Orleans & Mississippi operations. This is intended to omit headquarters and regional office personnel from the data. Provide data for the GNOIEC/MGCSC Members only.

VI. Instructions for Filing Nominations
Completed nominations must be returned to the GNOIEC office via email to safetyawards@gnoiec.com or mailed to 170 James Drive East, St. Rose, Louisiana 70087 no later than March 7, 2008. No contractor will be considered for a nomination if the packet is incomplete or received after the above date. Note: Digital pictures are considered part of the award packet.

VII. GNOIEC On-site Evaluation Criteria
The GNOIEC Safety Award Review Committee will evaluate Contractor’s safety performance based on the verified evidence of:
- NOMINATION FORM - 1-A (SITE WORKHOURS) 1-B (NEW ORLEANS & MISSISSIPPI REGIONAL OWNER MEMBER SITE WORKHOURS COMBINED)
In the event of a tie an audit will be performed on each nominee. The audit will be conducted at the contractor’s location and the following will be used.
a) CONTRACTOR PERSONNEL INTERVIEWS
- MANAGEMENT
- FIELD SUPERVISOR
- CRAFT WORKERS
